Things are unsettled in the city and the country, but there is also some beauty as it starts to be spring in D.C.
In bloom
The cherry blossoms at the Tidal Basin won’t be open until next week, but the magnolias are blooming now.

The cherry trees on the Supreme Court grounds are a different variety than those at the Tidal Basin, and bloom earlier:

Tulip Day
The Dutch tulip trade association and the Netherlands Embassy created the first Tulip Day in D.C. last Sunday – 150,000 tulips on the Mall, with each visitor getting to select 10 tulips. It was free, but tickets were snapped up immediately.

Last call for the streetcar
The streetcar opened 10 years ago to great hopes, but never fully achieved its goals, and is now ending – your last chance to ride it ends on March 31st.

We watched the work putting in the streetcar tracks along H St. NE starting back in 2010.

The opening day of the streetcar drew an excited crowd in 2016.

And sometimes fun things happened on the streetcar, such as performers during Art All Night.

Around the city
With the recent rain, there are plenty of interesting puddles around the city:

Can you imagine the views that these people are getting on top of the Capitol Dome? (we’ve never been).

Construction and refurbishing is everywhere, much of it scheduled to reopen for this summer’s 250th anniversary.

Birds
As a counterpart to everything else, we continue to find joy in the birds in the city.
