An intense week

There was so much packed into this last week – more storms, the fourth anniversary of the Ukrainian invasion, Chinese New Year – and, of course, the State of the Union.

Pawrade

We’re starting with a short burst of cheer – the only non-partisan thing that has taken place recently. The annual Pawrade in the Hart Senate Office building let Congressional staffers bring their dogs to work and show them off.

State of the Union

The day of the State of the Union is one of the busiest in D.C. Intense security procedures start in the morning around the Capitol:

Not far away, some of the Portland Frog Brigade came to D.C. to recognize the state of the union in their unique way.

While the State of the Union was going on inside the Capitol, many Democratic leaders held their own People’s State of the Union outside.

Chinese New Year

We were spared the blizzard of further north, but had lots of cold rain on Sunday. The Chinese New Year parade goes on rain or shine, this year with rain plastic covering almost everything.
