The beloved Downtown Holiday Market has drawn large crowds for the past twenty years. This year, in a twist, the Downtown DC Business Improvement District selected a different management company to run the month-long event, and the original management company then set up a competing market near Dupont Circle. Here’s what we saw at both of them:
The original market on F Street
The market on F St. (the “Downtown Holiday Market”) is bigger than ever, with two aisles of vendors along its two block stretch, plus entertainment in front of the Portrait Gallery. New this year are more food options – including a couple of food trucks, a space to eat, and the most popular addition, a S’mores bar.

The new market on 19th Street
The new market on 19th Street (the “DC Holiday Market”) has a number of the vendors that used to be at the original market, along with new specialty vendors. It’s happily crowded and enjoyed by those looking for unique items, and is just steps away from Dupont Circle.

So which one should you go to? The answer: Both of them.
