H Street Festival, National Dance Day, and more

With the nice fall weather starting, it’s also the start of festival season in D.C. Last Saturday there was a choice between the massively-popular H St. Festival on one side of the city, and National Dance Day on the other side of the city.

H Street Festival

The H Street Festival started 19 years ago, and is estimated to draw a crowd of 150,000 – for the music, dancing, fashion, art, food, and more.

National Dance Day

National Dance Day was co-founded by D.C. Representative Eleanor Holmes Norton in 2010. It’s celebrated all over the country, with both performances and teaching a dance to the public that has been created specially for the event. The D.C. celebration was at the Kennedy Center’s REACH plaza.

Farewell party

There was a small party Saturday at the National Zoo to say goodbye to the Andean bear cubs. The two-year old cubs are at the age when Andean bears live solo, so they will be taking up their own residences at another zoo.
