It’s Duckling Season!

Despite everything else awful going on in the world, there’s always a spot of brightness in D.C. when the ducklings are born.

Goslings

Wherever there are ducks, there are also likely to be geese. Baby goslings look cutely fierce before they grow up to be geese.

The best place to watch ducklings is at Constitution Gardens – or if you are lucky, you might spot them at the Capitol Reflecting Pool using the ramps to learn how to climb up the pool sides.

There are many other places where ducks can be found – almost anywhere near some water. We’ve written previously about the construction of the new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge – but there’s now a 28-day delay in the construction of the West Oval because a mallard duck has laid her eggs there. Ducklings rule!

  1. Thanks to all the photographers for these lovely photos. Brightened up an otherwise overcast day!

  2. Too cute – what is not to like looking at ducklings and goslings. They really do grow too fast! Great pictures😊
